What does FOB mean?
FOB, or Free On Board, generally describes a quotation where the seller arranges delivery to the export port and loading under the agreed shipping terms. The buyer usually arranges the main ocean freight, insurance and destination costs.
What does CIF mean?
CIF, or Cost, Insurance and Freight, generally includes the vehicle cost, export-side arrangements, ocean freight and insurance to the named destination port. Confirm exactly what is included because port charges, customs duties and inland delivery after arrival may still be separate.
When should an importer compare EXW?
EXW, or Ex Works, starts from the seller's location. It may suit buyers who control their own freight and inland transport, but the buyer takes on more coordination from the beginning. Ask for a complete cost estimate before choosing it.
What should every quotation show?
- Exact brand, model, trim and model year
- Vehicle condition, mileage and inspection scope
- China pickup location and export port
- Destination port and estimated shipping schedule
- Insurance, document, port and handling charges
- Items not included in the quotation
